Paws For Thoughts On Fitness
To expand a little on my quitting the gym post, as well as doing youtube workouts at home I’ve also started dog-walking via www.borrowmydoggy.com, I’d love to have a dog, sadly my work and social schedule just wouldn’t suit keeping a pet, neither myself or my landlord would be too happy with the fur either. However, I stumbled across the website in May last year and signed myself up for £10 which covers cost of verifying my details and 3rd party liability insurance. It’s a great service, helping people like myself get some quality doggy cuddle time and helping people who might not be able to get out as much or who can’t afford dog-walking services connect.

I didn’t really do anything with my membership last year as there weren’t very many verified members in my area, and unverified users can’t reply to messages. However there seems to have been a bit of an increase and I recently started to borrow Smudge & Charlie from a family who are a little busy with their newest arrival, baby number three. The dogs are adorable and I’ve started taking them out twice a week. One very long walk (ranging from 8-23km so far) and one shorter walk (5-7km).

Which brings me on to my Charity Walk, the longer walks I’m doing with the dogs are in preparation for Darkness into Light which is a 5km Charity walk which starts just before dawn and finishes as the sun starts to come up around 5am, the funds raised will be donated to Pieta House a suicide prevention/bereavement charity in Ireland. As well as the official walk I’ll be walking the 25km from the finish line back to my home village. So I’ll be significantly upping my steps for the coming months.
Fundraising is a great motivation to increase your activity levels!
