A Change Would Do You Good..

I tried my hand at the calorie cycling for a couple of months, it didn't really seem to work for me. The higher weeks were enjoyable, but I struggled with the lower goal weeks and my energy level were all over the place. I continued to maintain/gain over the 2 months I tried it.

Looking back over my old food logging diary, I can see that when I was successful with my weight loss, I was mostly not eating breakfast. I do enjoy eating breakfast foods, but I was never one for eating early.

Since the beginning of October, I've started bringing Overnight Oats for lunch most days, having just a small snack in the morning when I get to work and then having a larger meal in the evening. I'm down 3.5lbs for October so far (partly some water weight from ovulation week) and I've found it a lot easier to stick to my calorie goal over the week.

I noticed since changing to this way of eating, that I've not been as fatigued and that is helping me to increase my activity and also get more done around the house. It's been hard to get out of a rut, this year, so far.

I've also re-committed myself to saying No (to myself) when it comes to buying trigger foods, I have a very bad tendency when I am stressed of justifying that I will only eat moderate portions of these things (Pizza, Crisps, Chocolate Bars are amongst my worst choices when stressed) and then when I get home eating the whole lot in one go.

Another thing I've discovered recently is that milk is not for me, I've been making the overnight oats with Oat Milk for the majority of the time I've had them, so aside from some cheese in cooking the last couple of weeks and a little dairy cream on my hot chocolate, I've cut down considerably on drinking/eating milk or milk products on their own. Yesterday was the first time in a while that I've had normal milk, as I had some cereal at work for lunch and the bloating/gassiness, so going forward my plan is to keep it out of my diet and continue using plant-based milk/yoghurt.

I plan to continue this method for a month or two to see how I get on, and as always I will bore you with how it went.
