Day 66 in the Big Sister House
So it seems 66 is apparently the number of days that it takes to form a habit according to science (see link here from Huffington Post, well today is day 66 of logging food, exercise and weight, so I guess it's now a habit formed.
I have had good days and bad days in my journey so far but the difference this time is that I have had a great deal of support from other My Fitness Pal users and I have finally figured out that having a couple of days making "poorer" choices is not an excuse to throw the towel in and undo all my good work.
Now I accept that I will have days where I do want to eat more than normal, whether it be because shark week is on the horizon, my appetite has increased when I've been ill or because I'm out with friends somewhere that doesn't offer anything I would enjoy at a reasonable calorie content. Now I log these choices regardless and move on, rather than getting hung up on the "failure".
It's 13 weeks since I started Meal Planning so I guess that too has now become a habit, and a very helpful one. I'll go into it in more details later. As it currently stands I've lost over 16lb (7.4kg) since December 1st, having taken two breaks from my new eating pattern for Christmas and a period of illness/travel at the end of Feb.
Initially I want to get down to 95kg (210lb) and then eventually 80kg (176lb) so I've a fair bit of work ahead of me, on the plus side that no longer seems daunting.
